Job Summary

Cyber engineer performing research and development, software design, programming, and support of Cyber services and capabilities to government customers.

Job Description

  • Performs as a member of a small yet highly skilled team of engineers developing, implementing, and sustaining new and emerging cyber capabilities such as advanced analytics, automated security services, cloud-based environments, and intelligence driven solutions.

  • Interacts closely with network engineers, security personnel, program managers and vendors to establish system/capability requirements and designs technical solutions to meet critical cyber services performance criteria.

  • Leads in the development and implementation of new enterprise-level cyber service projects.

  • Interacts extensively with internal engineering and support teams as well as with Tier IV support engineers of various hardware/software vendors to solve difficult problems with operational services.

  • Assists in resolution of escalated trouble reports to ensure resolution in a manner which least disrupts customer service.

  • Works with cyber operators, when requested, to conduct in-depth analysis of system or software issues.

  • Develops methods and procedures for protection of the network, systems, and applications.

  • Develops and implements detailed standard operating procedures dealing with provisioning, integration, operations, and support of customer cyber services.

  • Provides project status to management.

  • Provides after-hours support on an on-call basis, as required.

  • Knowledge and experience in Python, Ansible, continuous integration/continuous development, Linux based operating systems, cloud provider solutions, Kubernetes, computer systems and network architecture, variety of vendor security products, defensive cyber operations, and emerging threats required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field and three years experience or seven years applicable work experience required.

  • 5 years’ experience as python developer required

  • 5 years’ experience in agile software development practices

  • 5 years’ experience in software operations including continuous integration/continuous development

  • 5 years’ experience utilizing DevOps principles and development processes

  • 5 years’ experience utilizing system automation solutions and products

  • 5 years’ experience designing, planning, and implementing cyber services required.

  • 5 years’ experience working closely within Linux based operating systems

  • Experience engineering and developing new products, services, or capabilities from infancy to production implementation

  • Experience working in small groups, but with the ability to work independently

Other Requirements

  • Position requires a Top Secret clearance.

  • Self-motivated and able to work well in a distributed office

  • Motivated by challenges and developing unique solutions for customers

  • The responsibilities of this position will continue to grow as additional cyber services are developed and implemented.
